AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, September 9, 2010 (IBC2010, Stand 7.G20) — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has provided Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI) with broadcast infrastructure equipment to support an upgrade of the LBCI facility in Beirut and facilitate programming delivery on multiple platforms. LBCI is one of Lebanon's long-standing news and entertainment stations and has been running for more than 20 years.
LBCI rebuilt its facility to not only expand its support of multiple delivery platforms, but also to realize greater operational efficiencies with a streamlined workflow. The Harris equipment chosen includes a 128x128 Platinum™ router with integrated CENTRIO™ multiviewer, six NEXIO AMP® servers, a NEXIO® media gateway server, Videotek® VTM test and measurement equipment and three Inscriber® RTX NET™ 2D/3D custom on-air graphics systems. Two NUCLEUS™ control panels and CCS Navigator™ software provide network monitoring, device configuration and various levels of control and monitoring for the broadcaster, unifying and streamlining the infrastructure operation.
The new facility will support all channels in the LBCI lineup. This project was handled and implemented by local Harris dealer Orbinet.
"This upgrade allows LBCI to continue to deliver quality programming and content to our customers in the region, not only on traditional delivery platforms such as television, but also on nontraditional delivery platforms such as the Internet and mobile devices," said Jihad Hachem, director of broadcast and production operation at LBCI. "We have been using Harris® ADC™ automation software for a number of years to handle file-based workflows around our facility. Harris was the only vendor to provide us with a truly integrated software and hardware solution for this facility, so the choice of Harris infrastructure to support this upgrade project was an easy one to make."
