CEDIA Denver, CO – Sept. 5, 2007 - Stewart Filmscreen Corporation®, the industry leader in precision projection technology in the home cinema and commercial markets, will demonstrate a 45-inch by 103-inch GrayHawk Reference Screen G3. This show-stopping event highlights the improvements of the new screen materials and how it has been optimized for 1080p projectors. Stewart will also be conducting live demonstrations with several more of their industry reference projection systems. The ultra-large screen demonstration exemplifies Stewart Filmscreen’s position as a solutions-based company. They are the ultimate partners for any A/V custom retailer or systems integrator, as they will assemble any size screen, using any one of their exclusive materials, which is completely customized for each customer’s specific needs. “We work closely with our dealers and custom installers to ensure that each screen is the perfect screen for that particular installation”, said Joaquin Rivera, Director of Sales for Stewart Filmscreen. “What we teach our dealers is they should start with the screen when building a video system. There are so many factors in determining the best screen for a given installation such as lighting, environmental conditions, the seating arrangements and the audio system. For optimum performance the projector should match the screen, not the other way around.” GrayHawk and StudioTek 130 G3 The big product announcement from Stewart during CEDIA is the availability of “Generation 3” versions for both the GrayHawk Reference Screen and the StudioTek 130. Like the FireHawk G3, these two screens now benefit from several improvements that optimize them for superior performance with 1080p projectors and source material. Stewart’s redesign of the GrayHawk RS and StudioTek 130’s optical coating improves pixel density to ensure the best possible transparency of 1080p (and higher) resolution images. The result is greater depth, contrast and color saturation with improved resolution, clarity and realism. The materials used for both screens are formulated with reduced surface texture, allowing for larger screen sizes due to the higher resolution. The superior performance is so compelling and film-like the delivery system becomes completely undetectable. “We are embracing the age of high-definition by offering screens engineered specifically for 1080p,” says Joaquin Rivera, Director of Sales for Stewart Filmscreen. “The GrayHawk G3 and Studiotek 130 G3, along with the previously released FireHawk G3, are the perfect companions for the latest generation of 1080p projectors, providing stunning high-definition images. At Stewart, our objective is to take a great looking image, and make it look better. Working with our customers to create the highest image fidelity is our first priority.” CineCurve – the truest home cinema experience With more and more projectors supporting the Cinescope format, Stewart’s CineCurve, a native 2.40:1 curved multi-format screen is fast becoming one of the most popular and sought-after models by the best systems integrators in the industry. Receiving industry-wide critical acclaim and numerous awards including the 2006 CEDIA’s Manufacturing Excellence Award, the CineCurve provides maximum visual impact allowing viewers to enjoy movies in the original super-wide cinema format. In the home cinema market the missing link that commercial theaters already had was the constant vertical height screen. The CineCurve screen from Stewart allows consumers to view CineScope movies in their original aspect ratio without the annoying black bars on the top, bottom and sides. This promotes greater flexibility of viewing full 2.35:1 images when using an anamorphic lens. To create a more cinema-like experience from all sources, the electronically controlled masking panels are adjusted based on the source’s aspect ratio (i.e. 1.33:1, 1.78:1, 1.85:1, 2.35:1, 2.40:1, etc.). The slight curve of this impressive projection screen dramatically enhances any super-wide screen image by creating an increased sense of immersion. This unique feature allows projected light to reflect back towards the audience rather than the walls to ensure a dramatic increase in brightness, improved uniformity, and superior contrast levels. It’s possible to choose from any of Stewart’s front or rear projection screen materials to ensure maximum performance in any environment and any screen can utilize the acoustically transparent Microperf X2. The VeLux™ black velvet appliqué frame finish absorbs any over scan and provides a luxurious feel. StarGlas StarGlas, Stewart’s revolutionary rear projection screen provides stunning images, even in high ambient light environments. Winner of the EH Product of the Year, the StarGlas screen continues to amaze with its innovative material that can be used in a wide variety of creative applications. The latest new StarGlas model is the ‘Walk-About’, a custom configuration of StarGlas that consists of multiple layers of extremely durable StarGlas material. As the name implies it’s possible to walk on the screen providing the most imaginative uses for commercial and advertising applications. It can be installed as flooring, allowing people to watch bright, vivid images, while standing, walking, dancing, or mingling. All Walk-About applications are custom-engineered depending on the span, mounting, intended use, anticipated weight load, and structural needs required of this specialized installation. The Walk-About is currently available in sizes up to 4 feet by 7 feet and is typically 2.5 inches thick. StarGlas qualifies as safety glass and leading architects have identified StarGlas as a genuine building material. Glass stairways, retail storefronts, and lounge area tabletops are just a few examples of where this revolutionary screen can be utilized. StarGlas is also available in curved formats to match any custom building design. Stewart will soon offer a special motorized lift for StarGlas screens that can be used in entertainment centers to hide the screen when not in use, offering consumers a high-end alternative to LCD and plasma TVs. Microperf X2 Microperf X2 is the latest version of Stewart’s THX Ultra certified acoustically transparent screen that completely eliminates the moiré. Stewart Microperf X2 screens are superior in image quality than standard woven screens, with up to 70% more brightness, higher resolution, and superior color saturation. Viewers sitting at the appropriate viewing distance from the screen will not see the Microperf pattern. Stewart Microperf X2 acoustically transparent screens are the largest seamless acoustically transparent screens on the market, and are available in all of Stewart’s screen materials including the new GrayHawk RS G3 and the StudioTek 130 G3.
