“An Evening with Foreigner” tabs Electro-Voice X-Line Advance on southern swing

On their February tour through the southern US, classic rock legends Foreigner engaged Mason Sound of Jacksonville, IL to supply FOH sound and lights on selected dates. To deliver full coverage in the large theaters the band is playing, Mason Sound supplied the Electro-Voice X-Line Advance loudspeaker system.

Combining high-performance with compact size and quick setup, the PA system consists of twin 12-box hangs of X2/212-120 line arrays, augmented by a dozen X12-128 dual 18-inch subwoofers arranged in twin cardioid arrays. For front fill, four compact XLD281 elements are spaced evenly across the stage lip. The entire system is networked via a NetMax N8000 system controller and powered by a total of 17 TG7 amplifiers.

System tech Todd Spangenberg reports that the band and crew were extremely pleased with the performance of the X-Line Advance system. “Everything is working out great with Foreigner,” reports Spangenberg. “We’ve got the entire X2 system running as a Dante network, and the amount of output we get is unbelievable. There’s plenty of power for a rock show, with so much headroom – most nights I don’t even see a peak limiter light come on. The bottom line: the band is happy, and they sound fantastic on this EV rig.”
