The Clearone Beamforming Microphone Array Is A Finalist For The 11th-Annual Utah Innovation Awards
Beamforming Microphone Array Breaks New Ground in the Professional Audio Industry

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH — April 03, 2013

The ClearOne (NASDAQ: CLRO) Beamforming Microphone Array has been announced as a finalist in the 11th-Annual Utah Innovation Awards, 2013, in the “Computer Hardware/Electrical Devices” category. Innovations from all industries and all areas of technology were entered for consideration.

The Utah Innovation Awards, presented by Stoel Rives LLP and the Utah Technology Council, is the state’s first and premier innovation awards program, designed to recognize innovations and the companies that created them. A selection committee comprised of approximately 70 professionals from Utah business, technology and academic communities narrowed the focus to those companies best exemplifying the ingenuity and inventive spirit of the awards. Winners will be announced at a luncheon on April 17, 2013 at the Salt Lake City Marriott City Center.

ClearOne’s entry is the first of its kind for the Professional-Audio industry.   The Beamforming Microphone Array is the first professional-grade microphone array with beamforming and adaptive steering technology, ClearOne’s next-generation Acoustic Echo Cancellation, and a small form-factor, to fit into a variety of conferencing environments.

“Over 107 nominations were submitted last year,” said Durai Ramichandiran, Senior Director of Product Line Management for Pro Audio, Streaming & Signage, “which demonstrates the amount of technological innovation that exists in Utah.  To be a finalist among this group shows how cutting-edge the Beamforming Microphone Array really is. We are more energized than ever to continue our forward-thinking goals of innovation in audio and visual solutions.”

Utah is home to nearly 6,000 technology companies, according to the Utah Technology Council. Recently named the #1 state for business and careers by Forbes, two years in a row, and dubbed the #3 in the nation for its healthy job market. Utah’s tech-related exports (computers and electronic products) have comprised nearly 12% of its total merchandise exports, continuing to be the second highest export category for the state according to the World Trade Center Utah, a partner of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
