Hong Kong Cable TV Uses Ross XPression
Posted on Tuesday, September 6, 2011
Iroquois, ON, Canada – September 6, 2011 – Hong Kong CABLE Television Ltd. is now using Ross Video’s XPression 2D/3D CG and Motion Graphics Systems for their Sports Studio.

A provider of subscription TV and Internet services, CABLE TV offers a diverse choice of quality channels for broadcast playout, including news, finance, sports, and entertainment.

“We are using XPression in most of our Sports Studio and use it as scoreboard and banner displays for soccer programs,” said Patrick Lee, Controller of Broadcasting and Engineering Operations. “When we made the decision in February 2010 to replace all aging Inscriber Incas, XPression was the obvious choice. The real-time animation is a true benefit, and XPression does provide us with a very cost-effective yet powerful performance. Also with the various models offered, we can pick and choose only the functions we need for specific functional areas of our facilities, while still improving the on-air look. Ross Video together with local partner, Ideal Systems, has been very helpful and responsive to any issues we’ve had, and it has been great to work with them.”

“Scalability is a strong feature of XPression,” said Brian Olson, Marketing Product Manager for XPression. “With 8 hardware and software editions, customers like CABLE TV can choose from our basic rendering engine, called BlueBox, which offers no GUI but can be controlled via automation, all the way up to our high-end Studio editions, which offer full design and play back capabilities. In addition, software-only products allow us to work with partners like Ideal Systems to create customized solutions that fit the specific needs of the customer.”

“Xpression is fast becoming the platform of choice when it comes to Graphics applications. When it comes to ease of use, power, and affordability, no other system in the world comes close to what Xpression has to offer.”  Said Dae Yung Choe, Director of Sales – Asia Pacific.
